Songfacts®:

  • This is a unique song in Alter Bridge's canon, as although it was never a single, it is one of the band's most popular and well-known songs by dint of being used as the entrance theme for WWE wrestler and superstar Edge from 2004 until his retirement from wrestling in 2011, and whenever Edge made one-off appearances on WWE shows.

The modified version for his entrance theme would start with the thrash-style outro before a brief pause, then go straight into the chorus ("On this day, I see clearly, everything has come to life"), forming one of the most distinctive and spectacular 'Titantron' intros in WWE. Commentators and announcers would often reference the lyrics in relation to his performances in the ring, such as when he entered the 2010 Royal Rumble (by surprise, having been reported to still be out with injury) and won the Rumble by eliminating John Cena.
  • The song was penned in a single day. Guitarist Mark Tremonti recalled to TeamRock:

"We started Alter Bridge when Creed was coming to an end. Me and Scott Phillips [drums] were sick of everything going on, on a personal level. I wrote as much as I could and had demos for about half the record like Broken Wings and In Loving Memory before I started searching for a singer – I didn't feel I was strong enough to be the singer of the band.

We finally found Myles [Kennedy, vocals] and got into writing. Metalingus came from us jamming together. It all started with that main verse but it came together really quickly. I think we wrote it in a day."

  • James from TexasEdge is still going. He returned in 2020 full-time, left WWE in 2023, and joined AEW shortly after that (going by his real name), still using this song as his entrance music there.
