Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of Canadian dance-pop singer-songwriter Alyssa Reid's debut album. The song was released as the second single from the album and peaked at #35 on the Canadian singles chart.
  • Much of The Game was written by Alyssa after broke up with a boy, whom she considers to have been her first love. The singer told Canadian Interviews that the song was written as a response to her first single, "Alone Again." "'Alone Again' is a very insecure, sensitive, softer side of me," she said, "and 'The Game' is more of a self-righteous, independent song. It just shows a stronger person. I've definitely learned how to be a stronger person through this whole process. It has felt a lot like a game! There are definitely wins and definitely losses. There is just a lot that happens. It does feel like a game to me. It's like I'm always playing cards and taking risks."
  • This features a contribution from rapper Snoop Dogg. "It was very cool to collaborate with Snoop Dogg on this song," Reid told AOL Music. "I've always loved his flow, and his verse really fits the vibe of the song perfectly."
