Songfacts®:

  • This is a nostalgic song about the purity of young love. It describes a time where "cardboard boxes took us miles from what we would miss. Schoolyard conversations taken to heart," and when people didn't lie or try to hide their insecurities: "laughter took the place of everything we knew we were not." The lyrics, "I want to break every clock" are about wanting moments and times like that never to end. Lead singer Stephen Christian reflects that you can return to that innocence with the line "I want to be your last first kiss," basically saying, "okay we've both kissed people before, we're both impure now but let's go back to innocence and never break it again with anyone else." >>>
