Songfacts®:

  • Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart endured a great deal of cruel misogyny on their way to the top of the rock and roll echelon, and even after they got there. In tracks like "Barracuda" and "Even It Up," they lash out at how they were treated in the often cruel industry, albeit in metaphor.

In "A Moment In Heaven," a track from Ann Wilson's solo album Fierce Bliss, she warns the next generation for ingénue about the trappings of the star-making machine. "It's one of those anti-Hollywood screed things, the meat grinder of the music image-maker machine and what it feels like to be on the inside of that," she said. "All of a sudden, it's 'happening' on all thrusters, you've got a number one record and everyone's pouring champagne telling you how much you 'deserve this.' You're in heaven! But then the cruel reality comes down.. what's the next one? Can you follow that? It's all about the short-lived glamour and ecstasy of being successful in the rock business."
  • "A Moment In Heaven" was the third single from the Fierce Bliss album, following "Greed" and a cover of "Missionary Man" by Eurythmics. The artwork for the album was done by Roger Dean, whose work adorns all those Yes albums.
  • Ann Wilson used her time during the 2020-2021 lockdown to work on this song and others for the album. "I actually had time off of the chaos of touring to be still and quiet, and look out the window and daydream and write," she said in a Songfacts interview. "That was a brand new experience for me. The first time ever in my life."
  • Wilson's backing band for this song is known as The Amazing Dawgs. They are:

    Tom Bukovac - Guitar
    Tony Lucido - Bass
    Sean T. Lane - Drums
Gordon Mote and Tim Lauer - Keyboards
