Songfacts®:

  • Here, the Little Mix trio join Anne-Marie to sing of being brave enough to leave a lover whose treating them wrong. "The worst thing in a relationship is just staying with someone for no reason because you're too scared to break up with them," Anne-Marie told Apple Music. "That's what this song is about: plucking up the courage to realize that someone isn't treating you right and walking away."
  • Anne-Marie and Little Mix first met in 2019 during Fusion Festival. They exchanged numbers and started sending each other songs as potential collaborations, but they never felt quite right.

The Essex singer recorded this as a solo album for her Therapy album before thinking the pop trio would sound good on it. She sent it to Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who played it to the other girls, and they all loved it.

Anne-Marie told The Daily Star when the pop threesome came to record their vocals, they made it sound 10 times better. "Everyone shines and their ad-libs at the end are insane, they kill it," she said.
  • Anne-Marie wrote the song with:

Little Mix's go-to writing partner Camille Purcell. She helped the girls write seven tracks for their 2020 Confetti album, including its lead single, "Break Up Song." Purcell previously won a BRIT Award for Best Single with Little Mix for helping them pen "Shout Out To My Ex."

American singer-songwriter Upsahl. She made her major-label debut with the EP Hindsight 20/20 in 2019.

Pete Nappi of the American pop band Ocean Park Standoff. Their 2017 self-titled EP spawned the hit single "Good News."

    Tulsa, Oklahoma singer-songwriter Jake Banfield.
  • The song includes an interpolation of Lumidee's "Never Leave You (Uh-Oooh)." Anne-Marie admitted to Apple Music it has completely the opposite meaning to "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)." Despite this, she wanted to include it because she's always loved the summer jam, since the days when it "was popping off in Essex when I was younger."
  • Pete Nappi also produced the song with the production duo Mojam (Mustafa Omer and James Murray). Mojam previously co-produced Anne-Marie's collaboration with KSI, "Don't Play."
  • Little Mix also included the song on their 2021 greatest hits album Between Us.
