  • Back on August 23, 2018, sparks flew when Anuel AA crossed paths with the fiery Colombian sensation Karol G on the set of their music video for "Culpables." It was the beginning of something electric. They dove headfirst into a whirlwind romance, and boy, did they seal the deal in style. Their love story was immortalized in a homemade music video for their January 2019 banger, "Secreto." It was pure fire, folks.

The flames kept burning bright, and before long, they took it to the next level. Anuel AA put a ring on it, and they got engaged. But alas, love's a tricky game, and sometimes it hits us with a sucker punch. In March 2021, after two wild years together, the lovebirds decided to call it quits.

Even though the chapters of their love story closed, Anuel AA admits in this song that he can't shake off the memories. He misses Karol G, and he hopes deep down that she remembers the explosive chemistry they shared.
  • "Mejor Que Yo" was sparked by the buzz swirling on social media about Karol G's alleged new flame, Colombian rapper Feid. It all started when Karol G brought Feid on stage as a special guest at one of her concerts in March 2023. They were gettin' down and dirty, dancing in the sexiest way, and the rumor mill went into overdrive. Anuel AA couldn't just sit back and let it slide.

Titled "Mejor Que Yo" (which means "better than me"), this song is Anuel AA's way of saying, "Hold up, nobody's gonna outshine me." He doesn't believe Karol G's new man can hold a candle to him. In the lyrics, he reminds her of the mind-blowing chemistry they had between the sheets. He lists all the things they did, all the pleasure he brought her, and he's positive that nobody can satisfy her like he did.
  • Anuel AA isn't holding any grudge against Karol G. Indeed, this song isn't fueled by anger; it's fueled by a desperate hope. He wants to believe that Karol G is still his, and he's ready to hold on to her "until death, for real." Nothing's going to change that, even if she walks around with that "cabrón."
  • Anuel AA has made it crystal clear through several of his songs that his feelings for Karol G still burn strong. Take "23 Preguntas," for instance, released on the third anniversary of their initial encounter. In this heartfelt track, the Puerto Rican artist wonders if Karol G still holds a flicker of love for him, yearning for a chance to reignite their once passionate romance.
  • DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz took the reins as producers for this powerful song. As the co-founders of Hear This Music, a label they established back in 2012, the Puerto Rican duo has been making waves in the music industry. In 2016, they struck gold when they discovered the sensational talent of Bad Bunny and swiftly signed him to their record label. Since then, Hear This Music has skyrocketed to become one of the most triumphantly successful labels in the realm of Latin music.
  • "Mejor Que Yo" is the second collaboration between Anuel AA, DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz in 2023. They previously combined earlier in the year on "Mas Rica Que Ayer."
  • "Mejor Que Yo" became DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz' fourth Hot 100 entry as producers. They previously teamed up to produce:

    2018 - Bad Bunny's "Mia," featuring Drake (#5)
2019 - Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Farruko and Anuel AA's "Baila Baila Baila" (#69)
    2019 - Ozuna's "Amor Genuino" (#92).

  • Aimee from Charlotte, NcWow! Anuel needs to get over himself. Karol won't go back to him because she knows her worth. He needs to stop bashing fied on social media and move on with his life
