Songfacts®:

  • This song is propelled by an Afrobeat style groove. Thom Yorke listened to a lot of Nigerian Afrobeat visionary Fela Kuti while recording Amok. "When I mix," he explained to French magazine Les Inrocks, "I tie together bits that sound like they're from the same universe, that have a similar sound, then I add a bit of Afrobeat and it generally works perfectly, it gives life to the entire room."
Yorke added, "I would love to be able to tell stories like Fela does, but it's not me, I will never be that. I do things my own way and I have to accept that, it's my instinct."
