  • Nate Rathbun is a progressive house/trance producer and DJ who records under the moniker Audien. This song finds him collaborating with the country trio Lady Antebellum. "With 'Something Better,' I wanted to push boundaries," Audien told Entertainment Weekly. "The song lends itself perfectly to call-and-response vocals and anthemic harmonies. Lady Antebellum aren't just some of the best voices in country music, but in overall music. It was a shot in the dark, but fortunately they felt as passionately about the song's uplifting theme as I did. The result is simply my favorite thing I've ever done."
  • The song was the first #1 for Lady Antebellum on Billboard's Dance Club Songs. They'd previously reached #15 on the chart in 2010 thanks to remixes of their crossover hit "Need You Now."
  • Lady A's Dave Haywood told Billboard magazine that the trio loved the song as soon as they heard it while they were in Florida on tour. "Our manager played it for us, and we were just like, 'Wow, phenomenal song,'" he said. "We were in the studio about a week later and spent a full day in there just going back and forth, sent our stuff back to Audien and let him do his magic from there."
