  • August Burns Red began in 2003 while the members were still in high school. The band started jamming in a farmhouse owned by drummer Matt Greiner's family. Although the members of the band are Christians, they are not interested in preaching to their audience, figuring the music should speak for itself.
  • Original vocalist Josh McManness left the band in 2006 due to exhaustion from constant touring. Columbia, South Carolina singer Jake Luhrs replaced him the same year and the band continued moving forward.
  • August Burns Red's second album Messengers was a breakout hit when it was released in 2007. The record reached number 81 on Billboard's Top 200 chart and eventually sold over 100,000 copies over the next four years.
  • In 2008, August Burns Red recorded a version of the classic Christmas song "Carol of the Bells." The track appeared on the punk compilation X Christmas and was also used in several advertisements for the movie The Spirit the same year.
  • August Burns Red's first trip to the Middle East took place in 2009. The band played the Dubai Desert Rock Festival along with other hardcore acts like Motorhead, Arch Enemy, and Opeth.
  • August Burns Red released their first DVD Home in September 2010. The following year, their album Constellations was nominated for the Dove Award for Best Rock Album.
