Sunset Jesus

Songfacts®:

  • This album track was inspired by a real man who frequents Sunset Boulevard in California dressed as Jesus. Many have encountered the Sunset Jesus (like Snoop Dogg), but few know his real story. Did he end up haunting the streets after his dreams of Hollywood stardom were shattered or is he simply an eccentric character who likens himself as the Son of God? Either way, he's a fearful figure for the narrator in Avicii's song, for he represents what can happen to him if he doesn't reach his own dreams of fame.

Gavin DeGraw ("I Don't Want To Be"), a co-writer on the track, provides lead vocals.
