Songfacts®:

  • This upbeat track is fueled by an early-'50s girl-group feel. The song was produced by frequent collaborator, songwriter/producer Butch Walker, who has co-written Lavigne hits like "My Happy Ending" and "When You're Gone." For more on working with Butch, check out our interview with Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup.
  • Lavigne explained the song's meaning on her official album track-by-track: "Stop Standing There is a track that I wrote on my own at home on my piano. This song is a song that I think a lot of girls can relate to. It's about that guy who's just standing there and not really doing anything and I'm like 'hello, do you feel like I feel? Are we are on the same page? Is something going to happen?'"
