  • March 10, 1994
  • Bad Bunny (birth name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) was born and raised in the small town of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, to truck driver Tito Martínez and English teacher Lysaurie Ocasio.
  • Bad Bunny's devout Catholic mother took him to church, where he became part of the children's choir. He quit at 13, by which time he'd began freestyling humorous raps to entertain his classmates. Bunny's early inspirations were artists he heard on the radio, such as the "King of Reggaeton" Daddy Yankee and the great Puerto Rican salsa singer Héctor Lavoe.
  • He got his stage name from a childhood photo showing him looking angry after being forced to wear a plush bunny costume. After Martinez posted the picture, his followers began calling him "Conejo Malo" ("Bad Bunny").
  • While working a shift as a bagger at a supermarket, Bad Bunny released music as an independent artist on SoundCloud. His song "Diles" caught the attention of DJ Luian, founder of Rimas Entertainment, who signed him in early 2016 to the label and persuaded him to quit his job.
  • Bad Bunny's breakthrough single, "Soy Peor," established him as a forerunner in the Latin American trap scene. His appearance on tracks such as "Si Veo a Tu Mamá" with J Balvin, "Krippy Kush" with Farruko, and "I Like It" with Cardi B enhanced his international recognition.
  • When Bad Bunny's 2020 album El Ultimo Tour del Mundo debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, it became the first all-Spanish-language longplayer to top the all-genre chart.
  • Bad Bunny was Spotify's most-streamed artist of the year globally in both 2020 and 2021.
  • When Bunny's 2022 El Último Tour del Mundo tour went on sale, it became Ticketmaster's top-selling tour for a first day since Beyoncé and Jay-Z's On the Run II Tour in 2018.
  • Bad Bunny is a longtime wrestling fan, and in early 2021 the rapper began receiving professional wrestling training at WWE's training facility in Orlando, Florida. Bunny allied with fellow Puerto Rican wrestler Damian Priest, who helped him win the WWE 24/7 Championship from Akira Tozawa on the February 15 episode of Raw. He reigned for 27 days until relinquishing the 24/7 Championship to R-Truth in exchange for Stone Cold Steve Austin memorabilia.
  • Bunny's teenage interest in skateboarding influenced his personal fashion style, which spans a wide spectrum. It includes pink florals, short shorts, well-manicured, painted fingernails and a wide variety of sunglasses. The gender drama of professional wrestling is another inspiration. "Each [wrestler] has their way of being, and it's respected," he marveled to Rolling Stone. "They have long hair, they can paint their face, [but] they're strong and powerful beings."
  • Bad Bunny has done a lot of acting. He makes a brief appearance in the 2021 movie F9: The Fast Saga, but his first substantial role came in 2022 with Bullet Train, where he plays an assassin alongside Brad Pitt. In 2025 he played Adam Sandler's caddie in Happy Gilmore 2.
  • His 2025 Calvin Klein commercial has been viewed more than many of his music videos, especially by his female fans. As one commenter put it, "My eyes are blessed."
  • In 2025, while promoting his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, he took over a local TV morning show in Puerto Rico, where he read headlines, bantered with the hosts, and even broke into song. Bunny clearly relished the chance, joking later that he might create his own show someday.
