  • According to the ACLU, Puerto Rico has the highest per capita rate in the world of women over 14 killed by their partners. Here, Raquel Berríos of the Puerto Rican twosome Buscabulla joins Bad Bunny to tackle their country's problems regarding violence against women.
  • Raquel Berríos assumes the abused Andrea's voice. "I felt that the chorus had to carry a lot of weight about what it means to be a woman from the Caribbean," she told The New York Times. "I had never worked this hard for a song."
  • Many assumed Bad Bunny is referring to the case of Andrea Ruiz Costa, who on April 27, 2021 was murdered and burned. On three occasions, she'd unsuccessfully requested to the Court of Caguas for protection in a situation of domestic violence by her ex-partner and then femicide. A month after her third appearance, her former partner killed her. Bad Bunny denied the song is specifically about Andrea Ruiz Costa.

"I like the idea of people taking the songs and making sense of them, but sometimes it's a bit dangerous how they do it so confidently. If you listen to the song, it's about a person who is fortunately still alive," he told the comedian Chente Ydrach.

"The person I'm talking about in the song could easily be Andrea, the girl who was murdered, as were millions of other women who were victims of gender-based violence... Luckily the Andrea of the song is alive and wants to stay alive," Bad Bunny added.
  • Bad Bunny recorded "Andrea" for Un Verano Sin Ti, an album that finds the Puerto Rican singer diverting from his reggaetón mode into other sounds. Marco "MAG" Borrero's production for "Andrea" incorporates glistening Afrobeats.
  • "Andrea" was the very last track that Bad Bunny added to Un Verano Sin Ti after MAG played him the beat in Miami. The Puerto Rico rapper told Chente Ydrach he "couldn't stop thinking about it." Bunny video-called Buscabulla during Easter 2022 and invited them on the track.
