Songfacts®:

  • Becky Hill has a clear message for her ex with this floor filler.

Now I'm better off without you
And it's finally clear to see
That the person I was missing
    It's not you, it's me

Becky broke up with her boyfriend on February 14, 2019 after three years together. She said penning this self-love anthem proved to be some personal therapy. "Written about a break up of my own, 'Better Off Without You' was a song that I listened to over the course of 2019 that helped me through some really dark times."
  • Hill wrote her collaboration with Sigala, "Wish You Well," about the same breakup. She penned that song just a week after the split. Another Sigala collaboration. 2020's "Heaven On My Mind," is about there being light at the end of the tunnel following their break-up. By the time she released that song, Hill had got back together with her ex and they were sorting things out.
  • "Better Off Without You" is a collaboration with house producer Shift K3Y. The pair penned the song with another electronic producer, Blair Gormal, whose other credits include Alesso's "Somebody Needs (Someone Like You)." He has also ghosted productions for the likes of Kygo, Martin Garrix, and Dua Lipa.
