Songfacts®:

  • After "Heaven On My Mind" was sent to Becky Hill as a fully formed song, the singer got together with her friend MNEK (Little Mix's "Wings," Duke Dumont's "Need U (100%)") to fine tune it for her purposes. The pair rewrote the verses and also added the crowd chanting at the end. Hill and MNEK's previous collaborations include MK's "Back and Forth" and Jonas Blue and Paloma Faith's "Mistakes."
  • Asked by the BBC what attracted her to the song, Hill replied that 2019 was a difficult year for her. She lost her granddad, and her mum, who'd been caring for him, got alopecia because of stress. Hill also split with her longtime boyfriend ("Better Off Without You," and "Wish You Well" were both about her breakup), moved house and fell out with her housemate.

"'Heaven On My Mind' is a song I would never have thought about writing," she added. "But I really loved the concept knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And I think that was a really strong message for me last year."
  • Becky Hill tapped English DJ Sigala to produce the track. They previously collaborated on "Wish You Well."
