Songfacts®:

  • The Bee Gees were born on the Isle of Man, moved to Manchester, England, then moved with their parents to Australia, where they proceeded to conquer the world. "The Echo Of Your Love" is one of the first songs they ever recorded; they did it at the request of a DJ named Bill Gates.

Robin Gibb recalled this in a TV documentary screened by the BBC shortly after his death in May 2012 that the first three songs they cut were all written by elder brother, Barry Gibb: "Let Me Love You," "Time Is Passing By," and "The Echo Of Your Love."

They were recorded on acetate, and the songs were played on his radio show. It was also Gates who gave them their name as what was to be a temporary measure. He suggested "Bee Gees" for "Brothers Gibb" and after his own initials. >>>
