Songfacts®:

  • The death of Benson Boone's great-grandma at 97 years old left him heartbroken. He used to meet her on Woods Creek Road in Monroe, Washington, on Sunday mornings and they'd go to church together. Her loss has shaken his faith in God to the core and he now sleeps in on the Sabbath.

Though his beloved great-grandma is now "in the stars," Boone doesn't want to say goodbye to her, as this means accepting she's truly gone. Rather than moving on, he wishes to hold on to the precious memories of their time together.
  • After the success of his debut single, "Ghost Town," Night Street Records lined Boone up with a couple of A-list songwriters for this track: Jason Evigan (Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack," Maroon 5's "Girls Like You") and Michael Pollack (Maroon 5's "Memories," Justin Bieber's "Ghost").
  • Jason Evigan also produced "In the Stars" and played the guitar and drums. Michael Pollack played the keyboards and both he and Evigan sang the backing vocals.
