Songfacts®:

  • This bright and breezy tune finds Big Sean reminiscing about some of his favorite childhood memories such as going to church with his family on Sunday.

And you taught me I'm a product of everything I go through
And you and grandma went broke so we would never get bruised
You the reason that I ever touched my first Franklin
Fast forward, I'm in Kanye crib with Kirk Franklin
It reminded me of how we always used to dress up as a family
And go to Sunday service, and being in church, singin'

Sean praises his mom and his grandma for always being there to support him and aid his growth as a person.
  • The-Dream croons the bridge. This is the third time The-Dream and Big Sean have collaborated together - the G.O.O.D. Music rapper also contributed verses to The-Dream's "Pussy" and "Ghetto."
  • It was Sean's label boss Kanye West who suggested adding The-Dream to the song. The G.O.O.D. Music head honcho played an integral role in helping Sean craft I Decided and is credited as one of the album's executive producers. In particular, West helped Sean make several key changes on tracks like "Owe Me" and this song. "Kanye definitely had a presence on this whole album," Sean told Zane Lowe.
  • Big Sean debuted this song during his musical guest appearance on the January 21, 2017 episode of Saturday Night Live. A solo violinist backed up the Detroit MC during his performance.
