  • Lead singer Ben Kowalewicz told Kerrang! May 30, 2009: "This is a tongue-in-cheek song about a girl who marries a man for his money. A person who sacrificed her dreams and goals just to be seen on the arm of a rich man. The moral of the story is you can do whatever you want to do without the help of anyone else."

  • Justanaudiophile from OntarioI feel as well this reminds me of an old Ballad about a Rich woman begging death to spare her. But instead of a medieval ballad it's a 21st century view of it. It's sad but a lot of people are still like this. Hooking up with people who have wealth for no reason than to be seen with them as arm candy and so they can get all the shiny new baubles and such. I've always loved how Billy Talent has never been afraid to take on modern sociopolitical issues. Or about serious illnesses and mental health issues (This is how it goes, nothing to lose, and Red Flag respectfully) and I feel like years from now Red Flag will be viewed as the millennial version of Pink Floyd's The Wall. Along with both this is how it goes and nothing to lose both being anthems for calling for more open discussion of mental illness and serious life changing issues as well.
