  • Vocalist Ben Kowalewicz explained to Kerrang! May 30, 2009: "Ian (D'Sa, guitar) was reading a book called Veronika Decides To Die, a novel by Paulo Coelho. He wrote The Alchemist, which is our bible. He was reading this story and told me what it was about. It's not a direct correlation, but we took the idea of a young woman who commits suicide. She doesn't succeed and ends up in a coma. It's about finding a passion for life. In the story, she comes around and realizes life can be okay. It took the most drastic of actions to appreciate what we have is beautiful."
