Songfacts®:

  • "Laguna Sunrise" was inspired by a sunrise Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi saw at Laguna Beach in California after a night of partying.
  • Spock, a crew member who could play guitar and write music, helped Iommi write out the orchestral parts for this track.
  • Disc jockey Alan Freeman, aka Fluff, used this song to open his radio show. Tony Iommi later gave a nod to this with his instrumental track "Fluff" on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

  • Bob from NzI was at Junior school (prolly ages 7-11) back in the UK when this came out & it was picked up for "schools & colleges" tv programming for the interlude between educational shows on the BBC (non commercial!) & seem to remember it won an award..... just googling around trying to pique my memory haha
  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganTony Iommi said in a Guitar Word interview (I think it was in 2006 or 2007, he was on the cover) that they would put at least one acoustic or softer song on every album to give people a break from the constant barrage of heavy tracks.
  • Dan Gillespy from Courtenay BcA perfect acoustic instrumental ballad.
  • Anonymous from LagunaActually the sun both rises and sets in Laguna…at “top of the world”, Alta Laguna, just about anywhere on top of the ridge in Laguna…I see the sunrise often on my early morning hike.
  • G L from NevadaHey Jason..it still has a sunrise..Google some pics.
  • Jason W from RoccoThe sun sets in Laguna beach. The sun rises in the East and sets in the west. Drugs were good in the 70’s
