Songfacts®:

  • This song was inspired by a rough time that the band went through in 2013. Vocalist Chris Robertson recalled to Artist Direct: "It all came back to a lot of things I was dealing with in terms of my anxiety, severe depression, and prescription addictions. That song is the story of the hell the band went through to get to where we're at today. I went to walking out of my house with a loaded shotgun to finding God and living a life that's completely different from what I was used to."

"My favorite line in that song is, 'Black clouds turn to blue and crucified like the truth,'" he added. "I don't think a song has ever name-checked Jesus like that. It's pretty awesome, man."
