Songfacts®:

  • American rock band Black Stone Cherry's third studio album, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, was produced by Howard Benson and released on May 31, 2011 by Roadrunner Records. This was the last track written for the record. Drummer John Fred Young told Rock AAA: "We wrote 'In My Blood' in literally 30-minutes at Howard's house. It was the last song we wrote for the record as we felt we needed one-more song, one with emotion and about something personal. We love what we do but it is hard to leave our families and our partners behind as we live in our home town in a community of 3,000 people. It's fun but it takes it out of you and we don't want to not appreciate getting to do this. We know we are so fortunate to be able to do this and we respect it but we love to get home and see our families too."
