Songfacts®:

  • The first track on the first Blind Melon album, the band wrote this song during a jam session, as they often did at the time. In our interview with the band's guitarist Christopher Thorn, he said: "I remember when I stumbled onto the main riff. It had a cool country vibe and I was picturing a chicken bobbing its head in a barn the whole time. Smoking weed was a big part of our lives at this point, and I think we actually wrote a bunch of cool stuff through the process of jamming while stoned."
  • Shannon Hoon's lyrics on this track evoke freedom and cleansing, as he sings about jumping in the river and letting the water soak up his sins.
