Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a teenage girl named Margaret who drinks her own blood. The song was written by Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard with his friend David Roter, who later released some albums as The David Roter Method. Many BOC songs had themes of vampires and the occult, but this one was based on a real person. Bouchard explained to the NME: "The girl Margaret was someone David used to go out with. She was perfectly normal except that she had a fetish for cutting her big toe with a razor and drinking the results. Nobody knew that at school, she was a pleasant Catholic girl, hee hee."
