Songfacts®:

  • B.o.B. spits rhymes over Jamieson Jones' synth-heavy soundscapes about a girl that wants to get with him, his riches and of course his dope shades.

Ray-Ban is a popular high end brand of sunglasses, which were first manufactured by Bausch & Lomb in 1937. Pilots in the United States Army Air Corps immediately adopted the sunglasses as they protected the soldiers' eyes from the sun while maintaining a stylish look. Their sunglasses gained popularity during World War II, when pictures of General Douglas MacArthur wearing them as he landed on a beach in the Philippines were widely circulated. Their brands of Aviator and Wayfarer shades have been worn by various celebrity icons over several decades.
  • Here are some more songs about sunglasses:

    1) "Cheap Sunglasses" by ZZ Top. A tribute to cheap sunglasses the band used to buy in gas stations.

    2) "Sunglasses At Night" by Corey Hart. Penned by Hart where after recording his first album in a rainy Manchester, England, he found himself sometimes wearing sunglasses at night.

    3) "Shades." Diddy declares rather unwisely to a girl that he will do anything for her - even take off his shades and "stare right at the sun." (Don't do it Diddy!)

    4) "Blue Slide Park." Miller raps: "Hey, I got these Ray-Ban shades. Kinda look like somethin' Lennon would rock."
