Songfacts®:

  • Boyz II Men sang so well, they didn't need to form words. In "Uhh Ahh," they just harmonize that phrase to form the chorus, but still manage to pull it off.
  • Song takes place in the bedroom, with the title referring to lovemaking - Ray Charles did something similar on his classic "What'd I Say."
  • The song opens with one of the most famous countdowns in music, with the Boyz counting down from ten to one in their unique harmonies. In 2019, Snoop Dogg sampled this section for his track "Countdown."
  • Group members Nathan Morris and Wanya Morris wrote this song with Michael Bivins, a member of New Edition who was also their manager. Dallas Austin, known for his work on many of TLC's hits, produced the track.
  • Included on Boyz II Men's debut album Cooleyhighharmony, "Uhh Ahh" was released as their third single, following "Motownphilly" and "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." It went to #1 on the R&B chart, as did "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."
