Songfacts®:

  • When Paisley was writing this redneck, walk-on-the-wild-side tune with Chris DuBois and Brent Anderson, the guitar part was the first thing that came out. He recalled to Rolling Stone Country: "I said, 'OK, that feels like a car. It feels like you're shifting and putting the clutch in. It sounds like a Camaro.' Any time you can marry [the riff] to the song and it fits the lyric, too, that's when you know you have what you want."
  • Moonshine in the Trunk debuted at #2 on the albums chart. Paisley has yet to achieve a #1 long-player, but five of his sets have now landed in the runner-up slot. No other artist has achieved more #2 albums without a #1.
