Songfacts®:

  • Brad Paisley released this good-time party anthem on April 15, 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. While centered on the frosty beverage, the song has an apt message for the self-isolating society.

'Cause we're all in this together
To me it's all so clear
Drinkin' all the beer, team effort
There is no "I" in beer

The title is a play on the phrase, "there's no I in team," which is used to encourage selfless participation for the common good.
  • Paisley penned the song in 2018 with his go-to songwriting partner Kelly Lovelace. Though it wasn't written for the COVID19 quarantine, Paisley said it "takes on a new meaning" of people being there for the lonely and fearful.

"People are utilizing this time to connect and to feel solidarity as human beings," explained the singer. "If we've ever felt unified as Americans, as citizens of the world, it's in the fact that nobody loves what we're going through, but everybody's willing to do what we have to do. One of those things is, let's be a team."
  • The video, which Brad Paisley edited himself, features more than 200 fan-submitted videos from 39 countries across the globe. Some of the singer's own famous friends also show up, including Carrie Underwood, Jimmie Allen, Tim McGraw, Kelsea Ballerini, Darius Rucker, Lindsay Ell, former pro football quarterback Peyton Manning, and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Ex Saturday Night Live actor Fred Armisen not only appears in the clip, but keeps the beat for Paisley during it.
