Songfacts®:

  • Bridgit Mendler penned this tune with Donnell Shawn Butler and Freddy Wexler. The latter also produced the track. Mendler explained the background to the song to Artist Direct: "I began writing this story about somebody who's right at the edge of losing a relationship. She feels like it's worth fighting for. It's funny because sometimes I'll write songs that are stories or about things that are interesting to me. Either, they will be an experience in my own life that the song ends up correlating to or they'll be an experience in somebody's life who's close to me. That's really exciting because it shows the song can be relatable. There wasn't something particular it was based on when I wrote it. It continues to get more and more meaning as I go about life after that."
