• The song was birthed in a 2019 pre-pandemic writing session involving TJ and John Osborne and Shane McAnally ("7 Summers," "Body Like A Back Road") at the home studio of Pete Good ("We Don't Fight Anymore," "Y'all Life").
  
  The first verse took shape as a casual invitation, setting the mood for a potential late-night rendezvous. But by the end of the stanza, the song hangs in suspense: "Baby, bring it on and on and on and on and on and on," leaving us wondering what comes next.
  
  "For me, it's like another hook, plain and simple," Good explained to Billboard. "It creates a beautiful bridge leading into the chorus."
• Halfway through the writing process for this song, the creative well ran dry. They recorded a work tape of their progress and called it a day. "Break Mine" sat in purgatory for two years until McAnally stumbled upon the tape and texted TJ.
  
  TJ felt it was even better than he remembered, and with renewed energy, finished the song. They reconvened at Good's new studio, ironing out the final wrinkles. Good crafted a demo, and the Brothers Osborne knew exactly what to do next. "Break Mine" would be their guinea pig for recording with their potential new producer Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood).
• Elizondo not only produced the track but also laid down the foundation with keyboards, bass, and acoustic guitar. TJ Osborne added his own touch with acoustic guitar, while John Osborne brought in both acoustic and electric guitar parts. To flesh out the sound, Elizondo introduced two new collaborators for the Brothers Osborne: drummer Nate Smith and keyboardist Phil Towns. Together, they built the song layer by layer at Elizondo's Phantom Studio.
• Originally slated to be the lead single for their 2023 self-titled album, "Break Mine" didn't quite fit the overall vibe, so it found a new home as the title track for a four-song EP Brothers Osbourne dropped on March 21, 2024. A shorter version was released to country radio on April 15, 2024.
