Songfacts®:

  • Country rap and crunk come together on this tribute to women of posterior superiority. It features the Ying Yang Twins and was produced by their longtime hitmaker, Mr. Collipark.
  • Bubba Sparxxx pretty much originated the hick-hop genre, rapping about life in the country and playing up those stereotypes in a big way. He was signed to Interscope and paired with producer Timbaland, who delivered a hit by reworking his Missy Elliott "Get Ur Freak On" into "Ugly," Bubba's celebration of the dirty South.

Timbaland produced the first two Bubba Sparxxx albums, but then Interscope dropped him and they parted ways. He then became the first artist signed to the Virgin imprint Purple Ribbon, run by Big Boi of Outkast. "Ms. New Booty" gave him his biggest hit, but by then he was in rough shape, battling a prescription drug addition that stemmed from a snowmobile accident. He took several years off to get sober and get his life together. When he finally emerged with new music in 2013, he explained that his lifestyle nearly killed him. His music got less hedonistic and more focused on his journey.
  • Directed by Marcus Raboy, the music video mimics and infomercial for a product called "Ms. New Booty," which we never actually see - opening the box emits a warm glow like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. Bubba and the Ying Yang Twins spend the video extolling its virtues, explaining how it will give the lady a whole new booty. In the before-and-after scenes, the women will suddenly start twerking after using it.

The host is played by Bryan Callen, who appeared on MADtv and the show Fat Actress.
  • Sparxxx doubled down on the booty/stripper theme by teaming with Girls Gone Wild for his subsequent tour. The result is a DVD called Girls Gone Wild: Bubba Sparxxx - Charmed Life Tour.
