Songfacts®:

  • Not a Bee Gees cover, Calvin Harris' first new release since 2014's Motion is a bass-pulsing track that was previewed by the Scottish DJ during his EDC 2015 set and released on July 17, 2015. The song finds him teaming up with Disciples, a London based house and electronic production trio signed to FFRR Records.
  • The song features uncredited vocals by Norwegian songwriter Ina Wroldsen, who is best known for co-penning many of The Saturdays UK hits, as well as Shontelle's internationally successful single "Impossible."
  • Filming of the Emil Nava-directed video took place in Malibu, California in late June 2015. The clip stars American model Gigi Hadid, who is the daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster. Hadid previously made an appearance in the star-studded visual for her friend Taylor Swift's song "Bad Blood."
  • The Disciples told HMV.com how they ended up working with Calvin Harris on the song. "Two of us are published by fly-eye (Calvin Harris's publishing company)," they said. "We were working on 'How Deep Is Your Love' and we sent it to him to hear his thoughts. He loved the track and he proposed working on it and collaborating on it together. We're honored he would want to put a record out with us. It's always great when two worlds collaborate."
  • This was Calvin Harris' first ever #1 in Australia. His previous best chart placing Down Under had been with "Sweet Nothing," which peaked at #2 in October 2012.
  • This won for Best Electronic Video at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
