Songfacts®:

  • Camryn penned this tune with producers Linney and Q who have also worked with Rita Ora, Kesha, Owl City, Kelly Rowland and Gwen Stefani. She told Genius the story of the song:

"When I started working on my new album with my favorite producers, Linney & Q, they happened to be working on this other track called "Machines". When I heard it I instantly knew it was the song for me. After a lot of convincing, they finally agreed to let me do the song.

We rewrote it and revamped it and at the end of it, 'Machines' came out perfectly and was exactly what I envisioned the sound of my new single to be."
  • Camryn explained the track's meaning to Artist Direct: "The song will hopefully motivate my fans to drive for success and world domination in whatever area of their life they strive for that. For me, it's my music. Lines like, 'We're gonna get there fast or slow' is a representation of my dedication to what I love most. The idea of doing something like 'Machines' is the idea that I'm going to get to my end goal and nothing is going to stop me."
