Fried Hockey Boogie

Album: Boogie With Canned Heat (1968)

Songfacts®:

  • Despite its title, this song has nothing to do with hockey. It's just a free-flowing jam.
  • The riff comes from Blues legend John Lee Hooker's song "Boogie Chillen". Hooker was a big influence on Canned Heat, and in 1970 he even recorded an album with the band - titled, appropriately enough, Hooker 'N' Heat - that featured a straight remake of "Boogie Chillen." The same riff would later be borrowed and adapted for a few other songs, among them "La Grange" by ZZ Top and "Spirit In The Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. >>>

  • Hawkwind used the music from this for their song "Orgone Accumulator." >>>
    Suggestion credit:
    Elric - The Dreaming Isle
