Songfacts®:

  • Catherine McGrath wrote this song in Nashville with songwriters Steve Robson and Jeffrey Steele, whose previous collaborations include Rascall Flatts' "My Wish." British songwriter Rachel Furner, who originally performed as an artist under Tich, also contributed towards the tune.
  • Born in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland, Catherine McGrath posted online homemade videos of herself performing current pop hits, which attracted the attention of Instrumental, a company that finds talent online and grooms them for larger success. This song was inspired by her move to London to work for Instrumental. McGrath explained in a YouTube video:

"The reason that we started writing it was I was talking about my friend who isn't my friend anymore, but one day she said to another friend of mine that it was a stupid idea going to London and nothing was going to happen and so we're talking about people like that just like who aren't supportive of what you want to do. People like that who are like really negative."
  • McGrath titled her debut album after this song. She explained to HMV.com: "The message behind that song is about doing what you want to do and ignoring the people who doubt you, believing in yourself and that being enough. Whenever it came to the title, that's always what I came back to. I risked everything for this album, I left my life, I moved to London, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and as a title it fits perfectly."
