Songfacts®:

  • Change was a studio group created by French-Italian businessman Jacques Fred Petrus with the majority of song-writing and production carried out by French producers Mauro Malavasi and Davide Romani. This song was the title track of their debut album.
  • The song features lead vocals by Luther Vandross who had yet to come to prominence. Vandross' performance on this and another The Glow of Love cut "Searchin" was to be a career breakthrough for the singer. The exposure to mainstream audiences led to a solo career for the one-time backing vocalist.
  • Janet Jackson's 2001 hit song "All For You" was based on "The Glow of Love." Phats & Small also sampled the tune for their 1999 #2 UK single "Turn Around."
  • This is the song that former world champion boxer David Haye used to listen to before a big fight. He told NME: "It's got the best bridge and it gets me really fired up. As soon as I hear it, I get changed and get ready to battle. It's the opposite of what people would expect to listen to before a fight."
