  • Cheryl's first new tune since her failed relationship with Liam Payne, "Love Made Me Do It" finds her singing of habitually falling in love with the wrong man.

Had to do what I do, just to get me to you
And all my friends are like, "Woah, girl stop"
'Cause they're the ones who pick the pieces up
It's bad for my health but I just can't help myself

Fans speculated that Cheryl was beefing her 1D ex in the song, but speaking to singer Jessie Ware for her Table Manners podcast, she insisted the stinging lyrics weren't about Liam. The singer explained that the tune was completed a long time before they split and the lyrics aren't "about one specific person or relationship."

Cheryl added it's more just about being head over heels over somebody. "I just love love!," she said.

Was that a collective sigh of relief we heard from her ex-husbands Ashley Cole, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini plus Liam Payne?
  • Cheryl co-wrote the song with Nicola Roberts. She explained that when her former Girls Aloud bandmate started songwriting, she would send things she'd done and Cheryl would choose the ones she liked. (Four of the tracks on the singer's previous album Only Human were Nicola Roberts co-writes). After taking a break from music following giving birth to her son Bear, she told Nicola she loved this song and had decided to record it. "She knows me inside out and she can speak for me and melodies are just first-take wonders," Cheryl told the BBC.
  • Two of the 21st century's most successful female pop singers, Natasha Bedingfield and Kylie Minogue, are both listed as co-writers. Bedingfield explained to OfficialCharts.com the track started as a song title during a writing session she had with the London-based songwriting and production trio The Invisible Men. "I think it started as a song title," she said. "We were just having fun... there was no purpose. We just wanted to write a really good pop song. It just kind of came together and we didn't talk about who it would be for."

The Invisible Men had previously worked with Kylie Minogue on her Sigala collaboration "What You Waiting For?," and they passed the song onto the Aussie singer. Kylie changed some words, which improved the original version. Once Cole and Roberts received the track, they fine-tuned the lyrics and the former Girls Aloud singer recorded the tune.
