Songfacts®:

  • American progressive rock duo Chester French open their sophomore album, Music 4 TNGRS, with this track that also features Pharrell Williams from the production team The Neptunes and Pusha T of the Hip-Hop duo Clipse. The LP was released on June 19, 2012 by Williams' Star Trak label, an imprint of Interscope Records.
  • Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Maxwell Drummey explained the song's meaning to Spinner: "It is a bittersweet meditation on our culture's bottomless obsession with newness, nextness and youth," he said. "Before and during our debut album's release, we felt the light of this obsession firsthand, and the song captures our coming to terms with the reality that 'you can't be next forever.'"

"Musically, the track introduces the more electronic and atmospheric approach of our new album," he continued, "which for us is a big step forward from the retro-pop sound of our debut. Pharrell and Pusha T introduce two additional perspectives in their verses."
