Songfacts®:

  • On his final solo album, Higher Truth, Chris Cornell reminds us that life is short and we should appreciate the time we have. "That's one of those songs that kind of happened in one moment," he told Yahoo in 2015. "I just picked up a guitar and started playing it, and those lines just came out. I had a dream when I was in Seattle with my wife. I woke up from this dream, and as I woke up it was like I was sort of flying away above us. I remember feeling like our whole life is wrapped up in moments, but we have to be really aware because it's so short. That was kind of what the song was about to me. We have to be really aware of every moment together. All we really know is that we have this life. Who knows what else is gonna happen? Let's not let it suddenly be over and we didn't appreciate it from day to day, from hour to hour, 'cause life's gonna fly by."
  • Cornell tried to embrace the song's message in his own life, but his struggle with depression and other mental health issues proved too difficult. He committed suicide in 2017 at age 52.
  • This was used on the TV series Bones in the 2015 episode "The Carpals in the Coy-Wolves."

  • Accept The Famous Egg from SeattleCC was in a adjoined room, found on the floor with a exercise band around his neck. He had NINE broken ribs, 9. Nothing in the tox caused his death. His teeshirt was torn. Luvidity was not common for suicide hanging. Those are the only facts. Shame on you.
