Songfacts®:

  • This sex-worker jam finds Héloïse Letissier singing of buying sex for a cheap price over an elegant groove and a staccato piano-house hook. "It's a literal interpretation," the singer said. "A note for a shag - how surprisingly soothing this can be! The power ratio runs clear, like water in your hands; it becomes a pure gesture of love, of ultimate consent."
  • The kinky video was directed by Colin Solal Cardo, who also helmed the clip for Christine and the Queens' previous single "Doesn't Matter." It shows the singer performing her daily ablutions in her apartment before she eventually leaves wearing bondage gear beneath a smart tweed suit. In an email to Vogue, Lettissier described the visual as "American Gigolo with a twist."
  • The song's sound was inspired by Bruce Springsteen. Christine explained to the BBC that when she was writing for Chris, she was obsessed by The Boss's "tender, catchy melodies." For this song, she was searching for a melody that was both "uplifting and sad."
