Songfacts®:

  • This song about rising above past mistakes and moving on to better things was first recorded by Chvrches for their 2015 album Every Open Eye. In October 2015, Paramore's Hayley Williams performed the track live with Chvrches in Nashville, before going on to appear with the Scottish synthpop trio to play the tune during Paramore's 2016 Parahoy! Cruise. Chvrches officially released a new version of "Bury It" which features Williams on vocals on June 9, 2016.
  • The song's music video finds Chvrches and Hayley Williams getting the cartoon treatment as we see the foursome become superheroes. The animated clip was created by artist and writer Jamie McKelvie, alongside animation specialist Mighty Nice.

Chvrches' Iain Cook said: "Ever since Jamie McKelvie began working with us on Chvrches poster designs, we have been discussing ways in which we could further our creative relationship. His work on comics such as Phonogram, Young Avengers and most recently The Wicked + The Divine have cemented his reputation as one of the most unique and exciting artists."
