  • Having previously collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the Young Money Barbie's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up track "I'm Legit," the pair decided to hook up again on this cut. "The energy of the record is so dope, and it's really for the ladies, and Nicki she just killed the verse," Ciara told MTV News about bass-heavy, club banger. "She literally murdered it, like she got that throw-back, that thing that she does that's so special. She went in."
  • Ciara was asked about her use of the controversial N-word in this song during an appearance on Access Hollywood Live. "As an entertainer you have fun and it's all about the context it's used in," she said. "I am an African-American woman, so I can identify with that word in different ways."

"It's all about the context and in my case I know I can have fun because I know where I'm coming from with it," Ciara continued. "You have to be light-hearted and it has to be in a certain way. I cannot hear another person of another race saying, 'you this' like 'you that'. Again, it's all about how you say it and what context it's used in."
  • This was released as the second single from Ciara. The album was originally going to be titled 'One Woman Army' before the singer decided to take an alternative path. She explained to radio station Hot 97: "'As we were moving along, I started to take a different creative turn. I found some new inspiration along the way, so the One Woman Army movement still exists and it's still a part of who I am because it represents my strength and my struggles and my journey. However, the best way for me to title the record at the time period or at this moment was simply Ciara."
