Songfacts®:

  • According to vocalist Jeff Turner in his autobigraphy Cockney Reject (co-written with Garry Bushell), "Where The Hell Is Babylon?" was "aimed at the hippies in the music press who used to 'bang on' about reggae all the time - the sad white [New Musical Express] knobs who hated their own culture and put Rastafarianism on a pedestal."
  • Co-written by bass player Vince Riordan and the Geggus brothers (Mick Geggus and "Stinky" Turner), it runs to around 2 minutes 26 seconds and is the 14th and final track on the band's debut album, the oddly named Greatest Hits Vol. 1. >>>
