Songfacts®:

  • Singer and guitarist Brandon Welchez had penned the melody and chords for "Sunday," but was struggling to put it all together. However, once bandmate Charles Rowell sent him a poem, he was able adapt its words to fit the song. Welchez told Spinner: "I did it in my in-law's guest bedroom and was too shy to sing loud, so the original version was in a different key, much deeper. A few months later Charlie flew out to NYC, and we arranged it and he wrote the bass line and guitar lead, which in my opinion, make the song."
