Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a boy who is really good at getting what he wants through words. He is with a girl that he just can't seem to get away from no matter how much he is unfaithful to her. He wants someone who is everything she is not ("I want someone provocative and talkative but it's so hard when you're shallow as a shower"). The girl finds out about his infidelity but all he tells her is that being jealous is what sparks greed. >>

  • Crash Man from KsI just recently came back to this song as it was a cd I never picked up in college but always intended to. Super catchy but it's really hard to understand in parts (never knew it was "with skin you'll win" and heard instead "riskin' your will". The lyrics are pretty decent but I have no idea what "teeth that bite underneath" references (in my head I just picture the horror movie "teeth" XD).
  • Skylar from Victoria, BcThis song is about a guy who is good with words, he's with a girl who looks good but is the opposite of what he wants in a girl's personality. He cheats and she finds out but then he tells her "Jealousy is the cousin of greed" Its a great song!
  • Raven from Lockport, LaIf you think this song is about a fat girl, then your retarded, and you need to watch the music video.
  • Rachel from Boston<3, MaNo! this song is not about fat girls! maddie and alyssa are right
  • Tabby from Grapevine, TxThe song is about a boy being attracted to a girl who is overweight. hence the curse of curves.
"i want someone talkative and provacative but its so hard when your shallow as a shower"
it's talking about how he wants her to be something he is ashamed of admitting, a skinnier girl, which is what he talks about being shallow.
curse of curves means she isn't the typical skinny girl. gift of one liners is about him getting what he wants with his way with words, he also turns the tables on her by telling her that she is "making something out of nothing" then telling her that "jealousy's the cousin of greed" to put her in her place, when she has every right to be jealous because he is most likely leading her on, because although she is everything on the inside that he wants and is attracted to, he wont admit it because of his shallowness his "wit wont allow it" curse of curves isn't a term derived to describe a girl who is using her body for her own benefit, it's a term to describe someone who isn't the resident skinny girl, a few pounds or quite a few pounds could stand to be lost.
  • Caitlin from Phoenixville, Pai love this song. and its true though shaant is shown with each one of their gfs.
  • Dylan from Oneida, Wiisnt the first part, guys getting stuff through words, right? its jsut you add the girfriend part in...ive never heard this song i was just curious about what it meant
  • Db from Carrollton, GaI agree with Maddie and Alyssa.
    That's what I heard.
  • Lily from Macon, GaI thought this song was about how the guy wants a smart pretty girl, but the one he finds has a weight issue (curse of curves), and his way with words is how he can "get" the other girls, he also admits to being very shallow thats why he goes for the "skinny", when he says his wit won't allow it i think he means that hes been shallow all his life and its inpossible to change him now...."with skin you'll win" means that beauty may be skin deep but it does win in most cases.............
  • Alyssa from Pemberville, OhIt's about both. Guys gettin' what they want by their "one-liners", and girls gettin' what they want by there "curse of curves"
  • Kayla from Port Orcard, WaYeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaa.
  • Megan from Berkshire, United StatesIn the video Shaant is shown with each of the other band members dates!
  • Maddie from Denver, Cothe song sounds like it is about guys getting what they want by using words. and girls getting what they want by using their bodies. that's what i thought originally. but if you listen to the lyrics, it makes sense.
  • Alyssa from Forney , TxOhh wow I thought it was about something different I thought it was about a guy gettin what he wants by words and girls get what they want by using their bodies
