Songfacts®:

  • Gareth Daley is a British singer and songwriter from Manchester. His breakthrough came when he provided guest vocals on Gorillaz's single, "Doncamatic." This is Daley's debut solo single, which was released on December 9, 2012 through Levels/Polydor Records/Universal Republic Records.
  • This features guest vocals from Jessie J, who Daley has known since she was a little-known performer. He told Digital Spy: "I've known Jessie for a couple of years - we first met before either of us had really done anything. We did open mic nights and showcases, trying to get ourselves out there. Jessie went on to conquer the world and stayed in touch, but always wanted to do something together. I wrote the song and felt like there was only one person who could sing that part. I got in touch with Jessie, but didn't hear back for a couple of months, so just thought she was too busy. I got a text three or four days before we put it out to radio, and she was like, 'I love it, let's do it tomorrow.' And that was that!"
  • The song samples Blue Boy's 1997 dance hit "Remember Me," which itself is built around two samples from the 1973 live version of Marlena Shaw's 1969 soul song, "Woman of the Ghetto."
