Songfacts®:

  • Danny Brown raps throughout this song about feeling like his life is a joke. Throughout the cut he touches on drugs as being something you can control, only to find it controls you.

    Broke serving fiends
    Got rich became an addict
Ain't it funny how it happens
    Who would ever would imagine

Brown sees the irony in how becoming a successful drug dealer leads him to become an addict himself.
  • The surreal and gory video was directed by the Hollywood comic actor Jonah Hill. It finds Brown trapped in a 1980s family sitcom, during which various non-PG events occur while a studio audience roars with laughter. The clip features legendary writer / director Gus Van Sant as the "dad", Growing Pains star Joanna Kerns as the "mom", artist, actress and Instagram celebrity Lauren Alice Avery as the "sister."
  • This isn't the first time Jonah Hill has directed a music video. In 2011, he helmed the music clip for Sara Bareilles' track "Gonna Get Over You."
