  • Amy Kirkpatrick was inspired by a segment of the Planet Earth documentary on caves while writing this song. "There's just something about those big open spaces with such beautiful things that no one will ever get to see on the inside, like the crystals," she said in her Songfacts interview.
  • This was the first single released to promote Other, Data Romance's first full-length album. Amy considers it to be the core component of the album. "It wasn't written first, but it was an idea that just sort of clicked in my head when I was looking for a meaning to attach all the other songs to," she told The Examiner. After watching the Planet Earth documentary, caves "became the metaphor for all the song meanings and life events I had put into the songs."
