Songfacts®:

  • This is one of several tracks on Cook's self-titled major label debut album with the theme of love amidst separation. Cook explained in publicity materials that this song is, "loving someone you can't be near."
  • Espen Lind and Amund Bjorklund, who make up the Norwegian songwriting and music production team Espionage, wrote this with Nixons founder Zac Maloy. Espionage were previously responsible for co-writing Beyoncé's hit "Irreplaceable" and Chris Brown's smash "With You." The Norwegian duo and Maloy also co-wrote "Lie" and "Life On The Moon" together with David Cook on his self-titled album.

  • Danielle from MassachusettsLOVE this song!!! I always thought of this as someone who doesn't know what they want to do or has a problem they don't want to admit/know about. David's telling them he knows they have a problem and are struggling but only THEY can realize their problems and he won't be upset at them for it. He's also willing to help them but they need to open up to him first ("I can't get close if you're not there..." that whole verse) and is wishing them luck in their personal journey.
